RallyCross is the most widespread and readily accessible form of extreme dirt motorsport in the Sports Car Club of America, and the perfect place to see if you have what it takes to powerslide your way to victory. Imagine a scaled down version of a rally stage laid out on a non-paved plot of land where the course is delineated by traffic cones instead of trees or rocks. One need only arrive at event registration with a sound, hardtop vehicle and the entry fee. Best of all, it's great fun!
RallyCross is the most cost effective way to gauge a driver's interest and aptitude for "doing it in the dirt." RallyCross classes categorize cars according to number of driven wheels, engine capability and the style of tires mounted. Unlike Solo, a similar competition staged on paved surfaces, where an entrant's ranking is based on the single fastest run, RallyCross competitions are judged on the total of multiple runs.
A RallyCross is any event in which one vehicle at a time is timed over a defined course on a generally unpaved, flat surface and consists of short straight sections and connecting turns or corners. The emphasis is on vehicle handling and agility rather than speed or power. Scoring is based on total time for all runs plus penalties.
Anyone with a valid driver's license can run. You must be an SCCA member but if you are not an SCCA member you can buy a Weekend Membership.
A RallyCross event is open to any fixed-roof, four-wheeled, mass-produced passenger vehicle that can pass safety inspection.
This includes electric and hybrid vehicles, convertibles with an approved hardtop attached, targa types with factory panel in place, and t-tops with factory panels in place.
A vehicle that meets the definition above but was not originally sold in the United States (e.g. Canada, Japan/JDM or Europe-only vehicle) is eligible if it meets applicable safety and preparation allowance requirements.
If the Event Chairman after consultation with the Event Safety Steward determines at his discretion that a vehicle cannot safely negotiate the course, it may be excluded.
The following types of vehicles are currently not eligible to compete in Stock, Prepared and Modified categories: ATVs, UTVs, side‐by‐sides, Trophy Trucks, Crosskarts, Formula Cross, Legend cars, and tube frame vehicles.
Trophy Trucks, Crosskarts, Formula Cross, Legend cars, and tube frame vehicles are eligible to compete in the Constructors category subject to applicable preparation allowances.
Vehicles with high centers of gravity are subject to the approval of the Event Safety Stewards and Organizers.
If your vehicle is deemed unsafe for competition you will receive a full refund.
